This selection of photographs is indicative of the broader photographic practice of the artist. This album highlights Jeffrey Hewitt’s appreciation of naturally occurring abstraction; light becomes distorted by the rippling of a wave a cold snowy surface becomes a grainy, film background which is fragmented by a detailed geometric pattern. This obscurity of form, space and the conversation between natural and manmade abstraction is carried through multiple media practices by the artist, including collage, and painting. Ultimately this selection indicates that the artwork of Jeffrey Hewitt is rooted in interrogating what is commonly associated with reality and the construction of this concept based on what we are able to visually perceive.
